Forced to remain motionless and always the same, in order to be more easily remembered, Zora has languished, disintegrated, disappeared. The earth has forgotten her.
Note
Zora is the city that no one who has seen it can forget: not for anything unusual, but because it stays in the memory point by point, streets, houses, doors and windows, like a musical score where not a note can be changed. It is a honeycomb in whose cells each of us can place what we want to remember: names, virtues, numbers, battles, constellations.
The scene is that honeycomb, heights repeating like a rhythm and an emblem in every cell. A traveller walks the itinerary from roof to roof, and every cell it touches is remembered. Those nobody visits languish: they pale, sink and disappear, the outer rings first.
Touch a cell: it rises again, with its neighbours, and its emblem spins. If nobody touches anything, only the itinerary is left of Zora; then it regrows from the centre, and begins to forget itself again.
Quotations are brief excerpts for the purpose of commentary. The full text is available in published editions. The Cities of Ottavia, Valdrada & the soundtrack are inspired by "Monument Valley" from ustwo games.
